Open Question: At what age can a girl in Oklahoma go to a health dept/planned parent hood for b/c without her parent?
I ask because recently my 14 1/2 yr old niece confessed she’s become sexually active with her 16 yr old b/f. I have tried talking to the mom and tried to make her see reason but she refuses to put her daughter on b/c because she claims she’s “too young” the daughter is calling asking me for help and i’m caught in the middle. I refuse to take the kid to get b/c myself because that’s overstepping my bounds and opposing the moms right to mother her child how she sees fit. but if the daughter was able to go get the b/c by herself that might help divert this train headed for disaster. The girl hasn’t made the guy use condoms yet because like most teenage guys he’s really convincing and smooth talks her out of it. I have gone over the birds and bees, STD’s & STI’s with this girl long before the b/f came into the pic and she still made a classic girl in love mistake. I am at my wits end with her mom i refuse to try to tell her how to raise her kid but i hate to see a young child’s life ruined by being ill informed. I can’t find any info online about how young is too young to get b/c and exams from a health dept or pp if you a minor. Please good info only and no rude comments. I am concerned for me nieces health and well being, i love her mom to death but she is incompetent in matters of sex, health, and that arena in general. I just want my niece to have a chance at a full healthy life, maybe even college, and if she becomes a teen mom or gets an incurable STD it will break my heart. What can or should i do?
Obviously i can’t call them right now their closed, and i don’t have a lot of expierence with planned parenthood or health dept’s because i’ve always had insurance. Just looking for good advice.

Resolved Question: What do you think about these teams?
Oklahoma Thunder - Kevin Durant is one of the elite players in the NBA now so I was wondering if he can carry his team to the playoffs. And hopefully win at least one round. I know Kevin will not be injured and Russell Westbrook will try to take Kevin’s place but it won’t happen.

Miami Heat - Dwayne Wade has had some lingering injuries but he will shine when the moment comes. I think they will win a round. Tell me your opinion.

Toronto Raptors - Chris Bosh is amazing up there in Toronto, but can he keep it up? GIve me your opinion of that and if they will be real playoff contenders.

Denver Nuggets - Will Carmelo Anthony be healthy enough to play and will that team advance far in the conditions that they are in in the Western Conference. My main concern is health for them. Please, give me your opinion of this situation in Denver.

Thank you for your time and knowledge. Have a great day.

Open Question: Accountant or Officer from a monetary stand point?
As with any life-molding decision, there is a lot more then just one variable. So in this case, money is only a factor and the driving force behind my decision.

Here is my position: I am a senior at Oklahoma U in the business college (well-respected part of the college) majoring in accounting. I have a 3.9 GPA and was thinking about applying for the master’s program. I am an army veteran and just joined AFROTC.

I was thinking about perhaps doing army rotc with GRFD scholarship. THat way I could stay in the reserves as an officer after i graduate and try to find a good job in the corporate world.

Or, I could continue to pursue active duty in the air force as an officer, work towards my masters while i finish the program, retire after 15 years and then get into the corporate world.

I suppose if i only stayed in the army reserves I would try to earn my CPA license.

Being a 2nd LT with so many years of service already I would start around 60K, be somewhere close o 90 after about 3 years, and be able to retire by time I’m 43.

Active duty I would have free health care for me and my family; however, the reserve health care is not too bad at all either, and my reserve pay check would more than cover the bill.

Ok, so maybe I gave more than just money details, so any suggestions would be nice from a monetary stand point or not. I guess in short, what do you all think it would be the better option.

Resolved Question: My heater quit on me, and im using plastic water bottles as emergency heat?
I ordered another heater online, but it can take up to TEN days to ship here, and i can’t drive to any stores, because i live in Oklahoma, and we just had a huge blizzard.
So i’m using a plastic water bottle, and a glass jar filled with hot water as emergency heat.
I take them out and refill them with hot water regularly, and put a drop of conditioner in there incase of water leaks.

However, I’m extremely worried about the plastic, label, and the adhesive used for the label on the water bottle.
I know i should take the label off, but i don’t know how to completely remove all adhesive and the label.
And i really just need it in the aquarium to keep the water warm.
What should i do?
My fish seems in good health, but i’d like to prevent any problems, rather than wait for a problem to happen.
Should i do 30% water changes every day just in case, to remove/dilute toxins in the the water?
Any help or ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.

Resolved Question: Are Democrats sick to wheel in sickly ancient KKK member to vote to approve Death Panels for elderly & infirm?
And then to create public relations dust up blaming Republicans?

What crepes! And creeps too!

The UK Telegraph runs with the Democratic creepspin:

Republicans have been accused of setting a new low for etiquette in the US Senate by forcing a 92-year-old wheelchair-bound Democrat to appear three times in four days to ensure the passage of a contentious health care reform bill.

Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia was wheeled in to cheers and backslaps from colleagues at 1am on Monday, then 7.30am on Tuesday and was due to make his final – and crucial – appearance this on Thursday morning at 8am.

His fragile health has caused him to miss 40 per cent of this year’s roll calls, and he has been attended by a private nurse for much of the past two years.

However, he overcame a record-breaking blizzard and even apparent prayers for his demise to provide the vital 60th vote the Democrats needed to block delaying tactics by the opposition.

Before the first of the three procedural votes was taken on Sunday, Senator Tom Coburn, a Republican of Oklahoma, said from the senate floor: “What the American people ought to pray is that somebody can’t make the vote tonight,” he said. “That’s what they ought to pray.”

Senator Dick Durbin, an Illinois Democrat, expressed his shock. “This statement goes too far,” he said. “We are becoming more coarse and divided here … When it reaches a point where we’re praying, asking people to pray, that senators wouldn’t be able to answer the roll call, I think it has crossed the line.”

Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, who is a robust 79, said: “I have been worried about Senator Byrd living through the physical trauma of the past few weeks. It is an inevitable thought when you see him rolled into the chamber at 1am. Compelling Senator Byrd to vote needlessly is a new Senate low mark.”
Byrd was dyed in the wool super-racist, he wasn’t just a member of the KKK, he was a serious , major LEADER fully committed to pure racism.

“I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side… Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds. ”

— Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944

Byrd was the fiercest opponent of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. He was one of the Democrats who filibustered against that Act for 83 days. (Would we have had 83 days to consider this massive health care bill!) Byrd, himself, went 14 hours in one turn of the filibuster!

The man’s KKK heritage can not be ignored.

I have done some research on the hospital administrator position and want another opinion. The school i am going to offers a Bachelors of Heath Care Adminitration Degree. I plan on finishing my degree up and then go to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center to get my Masters in Heath Care Administration. From what i have found from my research i have found this is the correct way to become a hospital administrators, but my parents say otherwise. Resolved Question: GOP health care Amendment would require congress to participate in the the plan they are currently forming?
http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/70667-dodd-mikulski-join-brown-effort-on-gop-healthcare-amendment

“Two Senate Democrats have joined Sen. Sherrod Brown’s (D-Ohio) effort to jump onto a GOP healthcare amendment.

Sens. Chris Dodd (Conn.) and Barbara Mikulski (Md.) filed a unanimous consent request with Brown on Friday to co-sponsor an amendment being drafted by GOP Sens. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and David Vitter of Louisiana.

The legislation would require lawmakers to join a public insurance plan included in healthcare legislation. Vitter is also considering proposing banning physician services currently available to legislators at the Capitol as well as taxpayer-funded services they are allowed at Bethesda Medical Center and the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

“If we have a public option in this plan — and my hope is that we will — then I think there is nothing wrong with insisting that members of Congress be included,” Dodd said. “We support it in our committee, and I’m prepared to support it again here on the floor of the United States Senate.”

“I want to add my name to Sen. Coburn’s amendment,” Brown said in a floor speech on Friday. “Seventeen years ago, when I first ran for Congress, I promised I’d pay my own health insurance until Congress passed health insurance for everyone. I’ve paid it out of my pocket since then. I look forward with great eagerness to join the public option as soon as it’s available.”

Brown sent a Tweet upon leaving the Senate floor that he has been allowed to join the Coburn-Vitter effort.

A Coburn spokesman, however, pointed out that Brown actually voted against the Coburn amendment when the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee debated it.

“We’re delighted to have Sen. Brown’s support of Dr. Coburn’s amendment, particularly after he voted against it in HELP Committee,” said spokesman John Hart. “We’re glad that he shares our view that members of Congress should lead by example and enroll themselves in the public option.”

A Brown spokeswoman said Coburn offered a different amendment in the HELP Committee, one that would require members of Congress plus their staffs to enroll in a public option plan. The current Coburn-Vitter amendment which Brown is co-sponsoring would only apply to members of Congress.

A Vitter spokesman also said Friday that Vitter has no objection to any Democrats co-sponsoring the amendment.
Members of Congress have a variety of healthcare plans and providers available to them under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, although senators have been considering some type of congressional requirement as part of any bill.”

So far 3 democrats are along with republicans, but the rest of the democrat party is against the amendment.

What are your thoughts? Shouldn’t the policiians participate on the plan that they are legislating for the rest of us, and not have a special plan just for themselves?
